It’s a common but treatable foot disorder. Experts believe that plantar fasciitis, which accounts for about 10% of running-related injuries, also occurs in up to 10% of the US population. In young people, the condition occurs equally among males and females. Studies suggest that females aged 40 to 60 may be most prone to the condition.
Plantar fasciitis is also commonly associated with heel spurs. The good news is that most cases of plantar fasciitis achieve satisfactory results without surgery. Our physical therapists are experienced in plantar fasciitis treatment and may use a variety of manual techniques and modalities to help resolve your pain.
We also work with patients who have had foot and ankle reconstruction, bunionectomy and cheilectomy (a surgical procedure to remove bone spurs from the big toe). Patients with hallux rigidis (arthritis of the big toe) often suffer with pain and stiffness in the big toe. At STRAIT Physical Therapy, we can help with these conditions, and we often work with area podiatrists to help their postsurgical patients recover more quickly.
